The Brewery is a Pub, but not in the modern NZ sense. The big breweries have changed what was once a great place to take your family and friends and replaced a great institution with their idea of what the customer wants.
At Cassels & Sons, we want to take our guests back to better times.
Our beer is brewed the way it was hundreds of years ago. Using pure artisan water and the finest grains and hops. Our sustainable wood fired brew kettle is primitive and makes each brew difficult, but it also makes our beer really good. Our head brewer Nigel and his team are true artisans; putting their skills into every brew.
Our menu is designed around what is fresh and can be sourced locally. We cook our pizzas in a wood-fire oven, the traditional way and the best. Not because it is easier, but because it tastes better. Our pizzas are meant to bring togetherness to a table. There's nothing better than sharing good food and discussing the day's events with family and friends.
From the moment you walk into the Brewery you are greeted by a friendly smile. The knowledgeable bartenders and barmaids main job is to show you a good time and to make your visit the best possible. Feel free to ask questions or to make requests. A smile and prompt service will be what you get in return.
The main form of entertainment you will find during meals is the conversation at your table. A simple concept, but togetherness is hard to find at places other than the Brewery. After dinner though you're sure to find some of the best touring acts New Zealand has to offer on our stage. If your after a place to watch the big game, then we have our big screen out back where every seat is the best in the house.
So yeah Cassels & Sons the Brewery is a pub. Just not what you are used to.
