golden bearI had this beer around half an hour ago and there’s still a sharp, pointy hop bitterness lingering on the sides and back of my tongue. The pint itself has lovely full caramel aromas which make themselves known in the taste. There’s grassy hops in wild abandon and full bodied malt. This is a beer that I am reviewing in retrospect, which I don’t normally do, but retrospect gives me a justifiable sense that I want another pint of this.

Emerson's sold to Lion NZ (3 News)

Award-winning craft brewery Emerson’s has been bought by Lion NZ, the company has confirmed.

The Dunedin-based brewery said the deal – effective on November 30 – is an “exciting new chapter”, however it will continue to operate as a stand-alone company, with the same 12 staff, producing the same range of beers.

Founder Richard Emerson said it is “business as usual” for Emerson’s.
