Initially meeting in high school, the five eventually came together to form what many would argue to be simply one of the best live bands around.

3 boysLustrous coppery amber in colour with a firm collar of creamy white head (on handpull, bless). Aromas dominated by pale malt, golden syrup, self-saucing pudding, rosehip and other deep, sweet floral characters. The flavour is brassy and typically of British bitter, a style I’m particularly prone to loving incidentally. Excellent length and bitterness but with definite malty sweetness. Long finishing. Essentially a perfect session pint.

There’s no missing the strong bit – 6.5% alc/vol should be fairly self-explanatory – but the Belgian half of the equation is the result of Carl’s obsession with the style. In creating his own version he’s named it after the Ardennes yeast that gives it all those spicy orange notes.
