Pilsner (Emersons)

emersons pilsnerA ‘Kiwi Classic’, Pilsner is a showcase for Nelson grown Riwaka hops.

Its overt fruitiness begs comparison with Marlborough’s world-beating Sauvignon Blancs.

Emerson’s Pilsner oozes citrus and passionfruit aromas and flavours. The beer’s palate shows a hint of early malt sweetness but develops a lengthy dry finish.

ABV: 4.9%

Sarau Lager (Moutere Brewing)

sarau lagerGerman settlers arrived in Upper Moutere in 1843 and after a rough start, settled Upper Moutere, then called Sarau, in 1850. Cordt Bennseman started building the Moutere Inn in 1850 as a resting place between Richmond and Motueka - in the heart of the new hop growing area.

Brewed in the Munich Helles style, Sarau Lager offers malty flavours with a refreshing and gentle hop finish.

River Clean Up

river clean upWe are having another river clean up on Saturday the 21st April at 10am - volunteers are  very welcome. Come along and please bring your gloves.

Work starts around ten am and there will be beer, sausages (meat & vege) and non alcoholic beverages provided at midday. A big thank you to our co-sponsors; Three Boys Brewery, Breads of Europe and Christchurch City Council.

Pils (Three Boys)

Three Boys Pilsner is a taste of Europe with a new world twist. Like the pilsners of old, it balances pale malt flavour and saaz hop bitterness.

The Three Boys take it a step further using modern varieties of saaz hops grown in New Zealand, which give it that little bit extra aroma and flavour.

ABV: 5.5%

Golden Ale (Three Boys)

three boysPours clear and golden (tick in the box, it does what it says on the label) with a good enduring head with biggish bubbles in it. The bouquet is fresh and fragrant. Among the grapiness and lemon grass was a toffeish note that intrigues. Also there’s banana passionfruit scents that reminds me of long summers in Nelson as well as hot buttered toast. I’d be quite happy if this is the last thing I ever smell.

John the Baptist
