NZ vs IRE feat. Black Velvet Band

“Ireland really set the tournament on fire and it will be great to have them back in New Zealand next year. It is particularly special that they will play in Christchurch at the redeveloped Rugby League Park – the first Test match in Christchurch since the Canterbury earthquakes.

Often cited as being New Zealand's greatest influence on the folk rock revival, The Black Velvet Band embraces traditional and contemporary Celtic songs, original compositions and fresh interpretations of old favourites.

Formed in the early 1990s at The Loft bar, Christchurch by Ian Costello, The Black Velvet Band have performed at many high profile events around New Zealand including headline shows in Cathedral Square, Christchurch on New Years Eve, the Hokitika Wild Food Festival and have mixed their music with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.
