Lynette Diaz is an American/New Zealand Singer-Songwriter with a voice and style that evokes flashes of female folk singers of the 60’s. while writing contemporary themes of Universal love and dignity.
Lynette first stepped into the music scene with the release of her full-Cd, ‘Lyrics In My Head’ (2008). The song, ‘Living’ Before Dying’, garnering two songwriting honorable mentions in the U.S. (Unisong and Peacedriven).
“Music comes through me, it’s a passion, it’s heart-filled, it’s fun, it’s intense and it’s rooted in my upbringing around a hodgepodge of various styles of music from 60’s and 70’s folk/country, contemporary acoustic, independent singer-songwriter, even 80’s techno and traditional Mexican folklore music.
A prolific Songwriter, she has been writing and performing a stream of new material at her gigs and has slowly been working on bits and pieces for her next solo Cd, with a projected release date of late-2012.
Lynette has teamed up with several Christchurch-based artists over the past few years, including a duo with Singer-Songwriter, Pete Love. Most notably, playing alongside NZ award winning fingerstyle guitarist, Susan L. Grant. Together, in 2011, Lynette and Susan formed the core of the all-female band ‘Manuka Hunnies’, while bringing in other female collaborators. The ‘Manuka Hunnies’ recorded and released the ‘Live at Greendale’ Cd in December 2011. "Live at Greendale' contains original music and instrumentals from both Diaz and Grant, along with several covers.
An active promoter and advocate of female acoustic artists, in 2008, Lynette founded the New Zealand Women’s Acoustic Collective (NZWAC), to celebrate a sense of community and collaboration amongst NZ female artists. This mission was extended in 2009 with the first airing of ‘FemAcoustica Music and Review’, a monthly community radio show on PlainsFM (Christchurch), featuring female artists, with an emphasis on New Zealand Music.
