Jess Chambers is releasing her sophomore album ‘Desire’ on the 26th of September. She will be performing four shows in New Zealand to celebrate the release.
The new album is a robust successor to her debut ‘Jess Chambers and the Firefly Orchestra’ (2008) but still

retains a signature, delicate but determined sound. The influence of gothic folk artist Gillian Welch and country mainstays Emmylou Harris and Johnny Cash linger in the dusty warmth of this latest collection of songs.
Jess Chambers first made a name for herself lending her ethereal vocals to tracks by electronic artists such Rhian Sheehan, Module, and the Upbeats, before releasing her first solo album, and later collaborated with a host of top Wellington musicians in ‘The Woolshed Sessions’ (2008). She's supported international acts such as the Fleet Foxes (US), KT Tunstall (UK), and Sarah Harmer (Canada), and won the APRA award for NZ’s best country song for ‘Stringing Me Along’ in 2009.
Jess Chambers will be performing with musical partner Peter Hill (Mandolin and Guitar) and Tessa Rain (Backing Vocals) for her Christchurch show at ‘The Brewery’. Tessa Rain (of ‘Fly my Pretties’) will be opening what is guaranteed to be an intimate evening with a set of her rarely performed songs from her debut album ‘Dirt Poems’.
