This year saw increased support from local breweries, with 20% more NZ entries than last year and 2012 also saw the Guild introduce a Beer Writer of the Year Award, which is great to see. This award was taken home for the first time by Phil Cook.
Canterbury Craft Breweries kicked butt this year with Harrington’s Breweries taking the NZ Champion Brewery award and Medal’s galore going to Wigram Brewing Company, Three Boys Brewery, Twisted Hop Brewery and of course Cassels & Sons Brewing Co!
This year our Dunkel took out a Bronze award in the European Lager Style category
This year our Milk Stout won the Silver Medal in the Cask Conditioned Style category.
For 2012 our “grunty” E.S.B. – Extra Special Bitter came in on top, winning the Gold Medal for the British Style Ales category.
